The Aconcagua Proovincial Park is located at 180 kms.West of the city of Mendoza. It was declare reserve in 1983 and it is one of the eleven protected areas of Mendoza´s province.
With about 71.000 hectares it protects an important part of the Central Andes, incluing its maximun altitud, the Aconcagua mountain, 6.962 meters above sea level.
The Aconcagua provincial Park is also important place due to the glaciers, water resources and archeological sites that it includes.
The Aconcagua mountain is entirely in the Aconcagua territory, Mendoza, Department of Las Heras.
It is not an international border, its coordinates are 69°59¨West longitude and 32°39´South latitude.
The climbing routes are Horcones river and Vacas river.They get to the bottom of the Aconcagua mountain, where the most important camping sites are located: Plaza de Mulas and Plaza Argentina |
